How to Sell Unsold Leads
Every lead you paid for and did not sell is pure lost margin. Here is how to recover it.
Why leads go unsold
- The winning buyer rejects the post (cap reached, duplicate, filter mismatch).
- No buyer is eligible at that hour or in that location.
- The lead failed a validation that only one buyer applies.
- Routing is too slow, so buyers decline stale leads.
Four ways to recover them
- Automatic retries. When a post fails, try the next best bid immediately.
- Fallback buyers. Configure secondary buyers, even at a lower price, for leads nobody else takes.
- Ring trees. Offer the lead to buyers in sequence until one accepts.
- Aged lead campaigns. Sell leads that are hours or days old to buyers who specialize in them, if consent allows.
Measure what you are losing
Multiply your monthly unsold leads by your average cost per lead: that is the margin at stake. Our lead profit calculator does the math for you.
Frequently asked questions
Why do buyers reject leads?
Common reasons: the buyer cap is reached, the lead is outside their filters or hours, it is a duplicate for them, or contact data fails their validation.
Can I resell a lead that was rejected?
Often yes, if your consent language allows it. A fallback path offers it to the next eligible buyer, sometimes at a lower price, instead of losing it entirely.
